INTAN MEILANI JOURNEY

Hi, i'm Intan Meilani my friends call me Mei, I'm a 7th-semester student of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Islamic University of Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al-Banjari Banjarmasin, Indonesia, my majoring is Physical Education. This time I had the opportunity to take part in the Sea Teacher program at the University of Northern Philippines organized by SEAMEO. As a complement to my journey, I will write everything I experienced while participating in this program on this blog. 

On October 27, 2024, it was scheduled for me and my fellow student, Hafizah, Maya, and Luthfi, to travel from Banjarmasih, to Jakarta, to Manilla, specifically Vigan. 

We were fortunate to be granted the opportunity to participate in the Sea Teacher Program, 10th Batch, organized by SEAMEO. During this program, we will observe, teach, and learn at University of Northern Philippines (UNP) Philippines, for a duration of one month. The primary purpose of this program is to share and adapt to the diversification in aspects such as culture, tradition, race, language, nationality and teaching experiences.

University of Northern Philippines (UNP) is located in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Name of the President UNP Erwin F Cadorna. Vision : a globally recognized university in a Heritage City by 2030, mission : to produce globally skilled and morally upright professionals instilled with rich cultural values. And the motto “Together We Soar Higher. Together We Build Character. Together We Create Future”.

After a long journey, we arrived in the Philippines on October 28, 2024 morning and meet our coordinator Sir Dr. Jose Picahy, he was very kind and friendly toward us. 

After leaving the airport we immediately went to Vigan City. On the way we stopped for brunch at JollyBee. And then continue the journey and stop again to eat Halo-Halo ice cream.

On October 28, 2024 at 7:00 pm we are arrived at University of Northern Philippines (UNP) alredy

On October 29, 2024 at 1:20 pm we are going to 2 brothers for change money, and then going to Calle Crisologo, and lunch in Mang Inasal with our buddy's.

On October 30, 2024 at 9:00 am we are going to welcoming ceremony and presentation of a plaque from Islamic University of Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al-Banjari Banjarmasin, Indonesia to University of Northern Philippines.

On October 31, 2024 at 15:00 pm me, Fi, Maya, Luthfi, Irul, and Wahyu we are going to Public Market for buy groceries with kuya Lorenz and our buddy Joshua.

On November 1, 2024 17:00 pm all of SEA Teacher students from Indonesia, dinner in Plaza Burgos with kuya Lorenz and our buddy's.

On November 4, 2024 8:00 am me and Fi met with our cooperating teacher, namely ma'am Maureen Lou A. Aragoza, MAT PE to consult on learning topics and making physical education lesson plans. Ma'am Maureen was very friendly and patient when teaching us material about cheer dance because I had never studied this sport before in Indonesia and this is what I will teach later.

And then on November 4, 2024 at 6:00 pm all of SEA Teacher from Indonesia and Thailand students we're watched the street dancing festival "RANIAC" on Calle Crisologo with sir Joey Nell Marzan and our buddy's.

On November 9, 2024 at 2:00 pmall of SEA Teacher from Indonesia going to National Museum Vigan City Iloco Sur with sir Joey Nell Marzan and our buddy's. I felt touched when I saw the paintings and listened to the history of the Philippines told by sir Joey Nell Marzan.

On November 10, 2024 at 4:00 pm we are all of  Indonesia and Thailand students celebrating Indonesian Heroes Day with sir Joey Nell Marzan. We're playing traditional games from Indonesia, to increase a sense of solidarity.

And then after this activity we had dinner together at Balay.

On November 12, 2024 at 9:00 am me and Fi meet again with ma'am Maureen Lou A. Aragoza, MAT PE. But this time we came with a student from Thailand, namely Ketsuda Weangmonto to consult on lesson plans and learning media then arrange a class observation and teaching schedule.

On November 13, 2024 at 8:00 am me and Fi conducting observations in grade 12. At that time, one of the UNP students, Aldrin, was doing his final demonstration in class 12, so we observed how he taught.

 

And than on the afternoon me, Fi, Maya, and Luthfi invited to have lunch at KFC with our buddy's from PE.

On November 15, 2024 at 12:30 pm all of SEA Teacher students from Indonesia and Thailand invited to Indigenous People Convergence : Celebrating Indigenous Wisdom, Heritage, and Resilience in Fuction Hall, CTE Academic Building. We were treated to traditional Philippine food and cakes, and we watched various kinds of performances such as traditional dances, and many more. and all of SEA Teacher students from Indonesia also performed dance performances combining various Indonesian customs.

On November 20, 2024 at 8:30 am I teach grade 12, this is a teaching experience that will never be forgotten for me. I am very grateful for what I have got in the Philippines. The students are very active and enthusiastic when I teach. They really respect me as a teacher. Thank you my great students.

Thank you very much to my cooperating teacher ma'am Maureen Lou A. Aragoza, MAT PE. Thank you very much to my SEA Teacher Coordinator ma'am Matilde T. Concordia, EdD. And Thank you very much to my buddy's who always accompany me both in matters related to learning and outside of learning activities.

On November 23, 2024 at 4:15 pm me and Fi invited to go on a trip to the Baluarte zoo, and have dinner with ma'am Maureen and ma'am Mati. Today is my last day in Vigan. Tomorrow I will return to Indonesia. 

And then at 7:00 pm, we are students from UNISKA are preparing to leave for Manila tonight. ma'am Maureen and buddy's came to the balay for our release. they gave us souvenirs. I was very touched and couldn't hold back the tears. I can't bear to part with those I consider family in the Philippines.

On November 24,2024 at 2:30 pm we departed from the staff house in Manila to Ninoy Aquino International airport. 

On November 25,2024 We have arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang city, Banten, Indonesia. Get ready for the next flight to Syamsudin Noor International Airport, Banjarmasin.

That's all my journey and activities while participating in the Sea Teacher Program, 10th Batch.
